Here is a robot that plays air hockey with you when you are bored. The SuperDroid Robots Air Hockey AutoPlayer, which was built in 4 weeks, uses stepper motors and a vision system to see where the puck is and its trajectory to defend the goal. As the developers explain, the robot is not perfect yet, but it does look pretty entertaining:
