Amazon has finally announced its set-top box, and it’s a doozy. For starters, it is a multimedia box you can connect to your HDTV to start enjoying Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and content from other partners. You will be able to rent movies, watch free movies, and more. Over 200k TV episodes and movies are available for you to take advantage of. You get Voice search, which is a big plus.
The Fire TV box has a quad core processor, 2 GB of memory, dedicated GPU, 1080p HD video and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound. It predicts what movies and TV episodes you will want to watch. Let’s not forget that Amazon FreeTime offers parents tools to control how long they watch TV. Did we mention that it is a gaming device? Paid games start for as low as $0.99.
Fire TV is also made for music. You can listen to your music library in addition to content from Pandora, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn. Got photos and videos in the cloud? This device can play them for you. You can also mirror your tablet on your HDTV (your Kindle Fire HDX that is). Use X-Ray on your tablet to better keep up with new shows. Pretty awesome, isn’t it? It costs you $99.
