Wearable devices designed to protect your privacy are nothing new. AVG’s Invisibility Glasses are the latest product designed to foil facial recognition technology. These glasses rely on infrared light to defeat facial recognition software:
The idea is to place infrared LEDs inserted around the eyes and the nose areas. Since the infrared lights are completely invisible to human eyes, they are only detectable by cameras which are sensitive to the wavelengths of these LEDs.
By relying on retro-reflective materials, these glasses can protect your privacy when someone is taking your picture without your permission. AVG is currently experimenting with the idea. You can catch these glasses at Pepcom in Barcelona.
