The idea of combining robots with insects and other small creatures is not new. Researchers have been making progress in this area for a while now. DragonflEye happens to be a drone that uses live dragonflies to fly. Created by researchers at Draper and Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Janelia Research Campus, the drone attaches to a dragonfly like a backpack, which contains all electronics, sensors, and a solar cell.

The backpack is charged using a light source. The idea here is to install technology on agile insects to make a difference. For instance, this technology can be used to to reduce the loss of pollinators.
