Anybody who has owned and flown drones knows that they could malfunction or get damaged by accident. How can we make these flying machines more resilient? Researchers are taking inspiration from insects. Take this drone for instance. It has a flexible external frame that can easily deform but locks around the case with magnets.
As you can see in this video, such a drone can still fly with agility but survive a crash and drop. An idea well worth further exploring, don’t you think?
