Meet the LAURON robot: a 6-legged walking robot developed at the FZI in Germany that can negotiate rough terrain. It has an inner aluminum skeleton and 4 actuated joints to move the legs. The head can move in 2 directions.
LAURON has a total of 26 degrees of freedom. Its legs have 3D force sensors and a spring-damper system. A stereo and IR camera are mounted on its heads, allowing it to gather information about its surrounding area. The above video shows it in action.
