Sony Ericsson G705 Leaked!

Serveral sourced on the Internet are reporting that Sony Ericsson G705 is going to be soon announced by the company. SE4M seems to be the source of the leak, so I decided to do some investigation myself. Obviously I didn’t know that my Arabic would come handy when going there. Well, actually it didn’t come handy as I couldn’t understand most of what these guys were talking about on that forum. Having said that, the phone will have a 3.2 MP camera, Wi-FI, and GPS. If you want to see some cool pictures, head straight to sen-se.

Dish Network Plans on Pushing HD Hard

They should have done this earlier. Now that Dish Network is in major trouble as far as competing with DirecTV and other guys, Dish Network has announced to go after prospects by dangling HD capabilities in front of them. Dish Network is updating prices and features for their TurboHD service to attract more customers. The new HD programming packages allow customers to get more HD only content and the prices are adjusted to make these packages more attractive to potential customers. I guess it’s better late than never! Here are the package details (starting August 1st):

• TurboHD Bronze – 25 HD channels, $24.99/mo w/o locals
• TurboHD Silver – 33 HD channels, $32.99/mo w/o locals
• TurboHD Gold – 40 HD channels, $39.99/mo w/o locals

D-LINK Goes Green with Wi-Fi Home Networking

D-Link is the first networking company that is taking on the green challenge. The green technology developed by D-link is going to save power for as much as 40%. The D-Link® Green Ethernet™ technology basically figures out the link status, distance, and network cable length and adjusts power accordingly. It also allows you to schedule the times that you want your network to be turned off. Here are the three new products:

    • D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) about $99
    • D-Link Xtreme N Duo™ Media Router (DIR-855) about $290
    • D-Link Xtreme N Gaming Router (DGL-4500) about $179

I personally admire the fact that D-Link is taking this approach. I hope that it does not take away from the network performance. At the same time, I am sure other companies will jump on this trend. Who says you can’t make money with green?

Will UGOBE Release Another Pet?

If you havent’ heard of PLEO, then you should definitely check it out. It’s a very cool robot toy that is different from anything you have ever seen. Your PLEO basically starts as an infant but learns from its experiences as it grows to an adult. But now there are rumors going around that a dinosaur is not the only pet that UGOBE will have for us as they are planning out the release of another form of robot pet in the near future. Right now the rumos are that the next will be a dog, but there is nothing concrete.  There are also rumors from the introduction a bird type but I just can’t imagine how that is going to work. But if anyone can do it, it’s UGOBE.

Comcast Gives Wii To New Triple Play Customers

The best way to sell an OK service? Bundle it with an amazing gadget. At least that’s what Comcast is hoping for as they plan to offer free Nintendo Wiis to Comcast Triple Play Customers. Here is the press release:

Comcast, the nation’s leading residential broadband Internet provider, and video game pioneer, Nintendo, have teamed up to offer an exclusive deal available to new Comcast Triple Play customers. From today until August 17, 2008, those who sign up for Comcast Preferred Plus or Premier Triple Play package* will receive a complimentary Wii™ system, merging together the joy of a super-fun video gaming experience with the power of super-fast Internet speed.

The partnership between Comcast and Nintendo will give new qualifying Triple Play customers a free Wii system and it will also allow them to hook up their Wii to Comcast High-Speed Internet for great online experiences:

* Play friends over Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection in games like Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and more
* Surf the Internet on a bigger screen by downloading the Wii Internet Channel from the Wii Shop Channel using Wii Points™
* Visit the Wii Shop Channel to download classic Nintendo games or discover new exciting titles made for Wii

“By connecting to our high-speed Internet, it will be easy for our customers to access all the fun content and features their Wii has to offer online,” said Greg Butz, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Product Development. “The Wii offers something for everyone, so pairing the Comcast Triple Play with the Wii system provides great entertainment value for the entire family.”

“Comcast’s high-speed Internet connects Wii owners with their friends all over the world,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “In addition to playing video games, people can surf the Internet, share family photos, and check the news or weather. The Wii is home to a multitude of fun Internet based entertainment and informational options.”

Comcast Preferred Plus and Premier Triple Play packages* include: Comcast Digital Cable with On Demand and premium channels; Comcast Digital Voice®, offering unlimited local and domestic long-distance calling and 12 popular calling features plus enhanced voicemail, and; Comcast High-Speed Internet with PowerBoost®, providing some of the fastest download speeds available today.

To be eligible for a complimentary Wii system, a two-year contract is required. Customers can sign up for the Triple Play by calling 1-800-COMCAST.

Note that you have to pick up the expensive packages for 2 years, so Comcast is probably making about 2-3 times as much from each and everyone of you over the 2 years.

The Gadget Wars: iPhone, Kindle, GPS

We are going to have one heck of a gadget wars this year. We all saw the reaction that iPhone 3G got, and it was certainly expected of any Apple product. But with the announcement that Kindle 2.0 will be out in November, Nintendo’s still going strong Wii, and a host of new innovative devices (including connected GPS from Megellan and Dash Express), it is interesting to see which gadget gets the nod over the others in the U.S. With the state of economy getting worse everyday, it would be logical to assume that some people will stop buying multipe gadgets and will get picky about their gadget choices. What do you think? Do you believe iPhone will reign supreme again or can anyone challenge its supremacy?

Alternative to Bluetooth to Rise Up to The Challenge?

A Giga-IR transceiver module embedded with a mobile phone communicating with a transceiver module on the PC side. Transmission and reception ports are separated. The hole on the left of the two holes on the right of the mobile phone is for transmission, whereas the one on the right one is for reception.Bluetooth has been at the top for quite sometime now, but I still can’t stop thinking about the new KDDI technology (GIGA-IR) that allows you to copy a full cd in a second. 1Gbps speed simply blows past anything we have right now in Bluetooth or any other mainstream technology. Now this is the technology for the speed demons!

Pizza Scissors – Necessity or a Waste of Money

I happen to agree with this reviewer that unless you don’t have functional hands, you shouldn’t need this Scissor.
