Meet DARPA’s futuristic Soft Exosuit: a biologically-inspired smart suit that can increase the wearer’s strength and endurance. It has a microprocessor and a network of strain sensors. The suit mimics the action of leg muscles and tendons, so the wearer’s muscles use less effort. The Army research lab is currently evaluating the program.
These smart suits can help soldiers perform difficult physical tasks more efficiently. Such a solution could also be used to help the elderly maintain their gait. Think about all the possibilities here. You can find out more information about it on Harvard.edu.
