Granular Robot Boots for Faster Movement on Uneven Terrains

Roboticists are constantly coming up with new ways to build more advanced robots. There are already plenty of quadruped bots that can negotiate rough terrain thanks to their sensors and smart algorithms. These granular boots for bots also seem very promising. Made by researchers at the University of California San Diego, these flexible feet allow robots to walk up to 40% faster on uneven terrain

The feet are made from coffee grounds, encased in a latex membrane. They can go back and forth between being soft and rigid.
