Meet the VoxCube: a 8x8x8 LED cube that lets you put on a show. It can be connected to Raspberry Pi, Arduino, SparkCore, Photon, and other microcontrollers to display 3D images and animations. VoxCube will be open source, so you can hack it to your liking.
You get 512 RGB LEDs, on/off switch, a 40 Pin header for Raspberry Pi, Data in & LED GND pins, and a USB B connector. These LED cubes can be chained together to make larger displays. More information is available on Kickstarter.
