There are already plenty of smart notification systems that help you keep up with new messages using vibration and sound. Need something different? You may want to build your own bubble notifier. Blup uses bubbles in a container of liquid to inform you of important events. It works for e-mails, social media updates, and other events.
As joshcorn explains on Instructables, you are going to need a Nano Air S1 pump, Adafruit Huzzah ESP8266, adapters, resistors, and a bunch of other tools to complete this project. More information about these parts is available here.
