Now here is a beautiful generative music system with augmented reality that looks purely magical. The Sand Noise Device consists of a box filled with sand, a Microsoft Kinect, an overhead projector, and internally lit objects. The Kinect tracks object position, color, and sand typography while the projector provides visual feedback. The loudspeaker system arranged around the box provides you with sound.

The Sand Noise Device reacts to users placing small lit objects in different places and provides a hypnotic experience. By playing with the sand and objects, users are able to change various aspects of this music system. You can see it in action at Maker Faire Bay Area 2014.
