The folks at BAE Systems have some crazy ideas about the future of airplanes and military aircraft. Their latest one suggests an aircraft capable of 3D printing and deploying UAVs via Additive Layer Manufacturing and robotic assembly techniques. The 3D printers respond to data they receive to produce UAVs.
These UAVs could be used to save lives or perform surveillance tasks. They could make themselves useless through their dissolving circuit boards. This is pretty clever, but we will have to wait a couple of decades to see aircraft like this.
