More people are flying their own drones these days. Have you ever wondered what happens if your flying machine gets hit by lightning? Researchers at the University of Manchester’s High Voltage Laboratory conducted an experiment to find the answer to that question. They hit a DJI Phantom 3 drone with an electrical impulse of 1.4 million volts.
Not surprisingly, the internal electronics were fried but the battery was fine, which could be explained due to it having a metal casing. Seems like a fun experiment if you have a spare drone or two to kill.
