It was just a few weeks ago that we had the chance to test the HuskyLens. It is an AI camera with MCP support and over 20 algorithms. The MaixCAM2 is also worth a look. It is an open source, programmable 4K AI camera that can perform on par with a Jetson Orin Nano Super 4GB in YOLO11n 640×640 tasks. It is ready for object tracking. You will just have to draw a box to get started. Thanks to MaixPy, you can develop your own AI vision applications.
MaixCAM2 comes with Qwen3-VL-2B, so it can not only identify objects but describe complex scenes. It can also solve math problems. It is possible to use smaller models like SmolVLM to analyze images in seconds. This camera has a 1/1.8-inch image sensor and performs better than the RPi camera. It supports 3 thermal camera modules (up to 256×192). As explained on Kickstarter, you can attach telescope and microscope lenses to it. Here are the main specs:
- Axera AX630 AI vision processor
- 32GB storage
- up to 4GB RAM
- 8MP 1/1.8-inch camera
- 4K@45fps resolution
- WiFi 6 connectivity
- 2 MEMS mic, 1 speaker
- IMU
