ChatGPT has millions of users around the world. One can use it to write a business plan, edit essays, come up with new ideas for YouTube videos, and a whole lot more. Plenty of companies are racing to integrate this AI into their products. Innovative Eyewear’s smart glasses are known for early adoption of this technology. Nautica Commander is their latest smart glasses that give you quick access to ChatGPT. They were kind enough to send us a pair to review. Let’s see what was included:

We had the opportunity to test the Lucyd Antimatter XL glasses a while back. The Nautica Commander has very similar packaging. It came with a cleaning cloth, pouch, and magnetic charger. You also get a manual and quick guide that show you the basic commands. On each side of the temple, you get a button to activate your commands. On the left side, you can decrease the volume with one click or triple click to go to the next song. A click on the right side does the opposite. You can activate Siri with a double click.

Setting up these glasses was so simple. We simply had to charge both sides with the magnetic charger and connect our glasses via Bluetooth. The first time you try to activate Siri with a double click, you are shown how to set up a Siri shortcut. You can ask your voice assistant normal questions or activate ChatGPT with “Lucyd” wake word.

These glasses are advertised as having 12 hours of battery life. We used them for 3 days without charging (total of 8 hours) and had no issues. When in doubt, you can always hold one of the buttons for 3 seconds to have battery level spoken to you. The Commander glasses have dual noise cancelling microphones & quad speakers, which are impressively loud at max level. You will be able to hear your calls and music in noisy condition.

We had no issues pairing our Commander to our iPhone, iPad, and Android. For iOS devices, you are going to need iOS 17 or later. The app lets you tap to talk to interact with ChatGPT but you don’t need to use it. You can also type your questions. Even with a bit of an accent, the app had no trouble understanding our words.

This is a very lightweight pair, so you can wear them around comfortably. We got the Solid Navy Blue Polarized UV400 version for our review. It felt more fun to wear than the black gradient Antimatter XL. They are IP56 water resistant, so you can use them by the pool or at the beach with no issues. You shouldn’t swim with these though.

We were able to pair two Lucyd glasses to a single smartphone but only one will play your audio. You can use the other to control the volume and other features. Commander can be used to send a voice message, check your mailbox, call an Uber or get directions.

Overall, we found the Commander Smart Glasses to be quite an incredible pair of sunglasses. They are stylish and easy to get used to. Unlike a few other glasses that don’t sense touch gestures well, these recognize your commands accurately every time thanks to their two buttons. They are lightweight and very comfortable to wear. The Navy Blue Polarized UV400 version looks amazing but you can get these in various other colors (e.g. tangerine, chromatic blue, nonpolarized UV400, and Blueshift – Transitional Blue Light Blocking). If you can’t get enough of ChatGPT and want a pair of smart glasses that give you quick access to this tool, you should give Nautica Sunglasses a serious look.
