Self defense rings are nothing new. We have covered a bunch of them here in the past. Not many of them look as elegant as the Defender Ring though. The good folks behind it were kind enough to send us one for a review. The ring got to us very well packaged. It has a beautiful rose on it that can be unscrewed to give access to a sharp stainless steel weapon.
Unlike many other self defense rings we have tested, this one looks quite attractive and can be worn as a regular piece of jewelry. When you unscrew the rose ring top, you can use the sharp head to draw blood and collect DNA evidence.
We tested our Defender Ring on eggs, boxes, and fruits. We simply had to rotate the ring top counter-clockwise to access the blade. This may not be a knife or taser gun but it is effective for what it is designed to do. Our ring was a bit small for my finger, but you can get yours from size 5 to 10.
According to the company, Defender Ring tops are made from 925 sterling silver and coated in rhodium. These guys are working on new designs, including Pearl and Plumeria rings, that are expected to debut soon. The neat part is all Defender Ring tops will be interchangeable. You can get one of these for $79 at this time (top only for $59).
