Those of you who do a lot of cooking indoors know the importance of having a reliable range hood. It can help you keep a handle on smoke and odors as you cook. Most range hoods are not portable, so you can’t take them with you anywhere. The AMZCHEF Portable Range Hood is designed for RVs and small apartments. It has an ultra-compact, lightweight design with adjustable height and angle settings. The good folks at AMZCHEF were kind enough to send us one to test. Let’s see what was included:

Our portable range hood is about the size of a desktop fan. It also ships with 10 carbon filters and features an adjustable height and head angle. It has non-slip feet on the bottom to help it stay put on any flat surface you place it on. Installing the filters just takes a couple of seconds. This range hood has 2 buttons on it. The first one lets you choose one of the four available speeds. The other button turns the light on. When you turn off the hood, the light also automatically turns off.

This range hood is designed to work well with induction cookers and indoor grills. Once you plug it in and activate the hood, it will suck in smoke, fumes, and other airborne particles. It has multiple layers of filtration to get the job done effectively. The airflow coming from the back demonstrates how powerful this machine is. The AMZCHEF Portable Range Hood is lightweight enough to be easily handled with one hand. It has a button on the back for adjusting the height by up to 2.8 inches. You can also tilt the head up and down by up to 20 degrees. According to our digital scale, this range hood weighs 3.194 lbs.

We had the best experience when the back of the hood had some open space. The noise level was not that noticeable, nor was it louder than our regular range hood (around 60 dB according to a noise meter app on iOS). For cleaning, you can remove the aluminum and carbon filters and clean them with lukewarm water. There is also an oil collection cup underneath the machine. The ring light is not too bright, but it is adequate for you to see what you are doing.

We tested this device indoors with lots of smoke, and it did an admirable job. It is also great for grilling and cooking complete meals in the kitchen. At max level, this range hood doesn’t have to be too close to the source of smoke or fumes to get the job done. For our test, we cooked a fried potato lunch with mozzarella on our AMZCHEF Dual Burner Induction Cooker. This range hood managed to capture everything without getting in the way.

Overall, we found this range hood to be a versatile tool for cooking indoors. It allowed us to use our grill outside the kitchen. Unlike a few other similar models that are just height-adjustable, this one can be tilted toward the main source of fumes. Its 4 layers of filtration are effective no matter what you decide to cook. If you are looking for a range hood for a small apartment or RV, you should give this one a look.
