So you love holographic appliances and would like to bring one home? Jarem Archer has built a Cortana Hologram experience powered by a Windows 10 device with 4 GB of RAM and an Arduino board. The software is based on a Unity3D app that presents and animates Cortana and a second app that parses data communication to/from the Cortana web service.
The developer 3D printed each component in PLA. An omnidirectional microphone was used on top of the unit. Pretty clever if you ask us. More info is available on the developer’s site.
