Flying Anemometer: Using Drones As Wind Sensors

New Gadget Deals ➡️ Details Here

In the past few months, we have covered plenty of awesome drone research projects. This one is about building flying wind sensors. Researchers from the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics of the German Aerospace Center have performed experiments using a custom designed hexacopter in the WindEEE Dome in London, Canada with a smart algorithm to use the drone’s propellers to sense the wind speed.

This video covers how this flying wind sensor was tested in the world’s first 3D wind tunnel.
