Plenty of roboticists improve their ideas by getting inspiration from nature. Take the BionicFlyingFox for instance: it is a robot flying fox with on-board electronics and external motion tracking that can move semi-autonomously in the air.

This flying fox has a wingspan of 228cm and body length of 87cm. It communicates with the motion tracker all the time as the system plans the flight paths and sends the commands to the robot. With machine learning, the BionicFlyingFox can optimize its behavior during flights.
