Meet the Leica Gun: a rare Leitz accessory made for the 1936 Olympics in Berlin that was popular among wildlife and sports photographers of that era. The E. Leitz agency in New York was behind this product. It features a Wetzlar PLOOT mirror housing and a bayonet mount Wetzlar viewfinder. The complete kits includes the special base plate, a 200mm Telyt f4,5, an eyepiece magnifier for the PLOOT, and a Leica IIIa.
This Leica Gun Prototype is currently listed on liveauctioneers.com by WestLicht Photographica Auction. It is not the first time we have seen it go on sale on these auction sites. Let’s not forget this is a very rare items, so it won’t come cheap.
