Boston Dynamics’ robots have come a long way over the years. The next generation Atlas robot can operate outdoors and inside buildings with no problem. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. The robot uses sensors in its body and legs to keep its balance. It also has LIDAR and stereo sensors in its head to avoid obstacles and navigation objects.
This robot is 5′ 9″ tall. As you can see in the above video, it can be mistreated, kicked, and pushed and still keep its balance. It can also get up after a fall. Pretty impressive, don’t you think?
