OpenPool: Open Source Augmented Billiard System

➡️ More gadgets like this

We have covered augmented pool tables in the past. The OpenPool happens to be another augmented billiard system with projection mapping technology. You get to play billiard with interactive visual effects. OpenPool happens to be an open source system, so you can create and add your own effects.

OpenPool is an attention-grabber. It is also developer friendly, so everyone can have fun with this system. Here is how it works:

A Kinect2 watches the locations of the balls on a millisecond basis, and a projector shows cool effects around the moving balls. All you have to do is just attach a Kinect2 and a projector on to the ceiling using [the] designed OpenPool Mount.

You can use your own pool table and other items that you have. There is also an OpenPool Pocket Detector in each pocket, made of LEDs, IR sensors and a 3D-printed case. This cool project is on Kickstarter right now.
