Here is a cool device capable of taking your pulse without even touching you. This Fujitsu prototype has a webcam and a custom algorithm to get the job done. You just have to sit down in front of the camera and remain still. The software separates the green, red, and blue channels of the video. Red is reflected by the hemoglobin in your blood and green is absorbed. The green channel changes brightness as your body pumps your blood.
The algorithm reduces noise in the picture and can read your pulse in as little as 5 seconds. How cool is that?
