Ultrasonic levitation is not a new concept. We have seem many awesome videos demonstrating it in the past. It is certainly a fine science experiment if you have the tools to pull it off. Don’t feel you know enough about the science to get started? This Sonic Levitation Kit on Kickstarter may be something you should consider supporting. The machine produces an ultrasonic wave of 28,000 cycles per second with a wavelength of 12.14286 millimeters. It uses up to 70 watts of power to generate sound waves to levitate objects.
The developer is pledging an open source hardware approach for this project. Richard Haberkern has had a few other fun, educational Kickstarter projects in the past. This one is no different.
