There was a time when making paralyzed folks walk again was considered a dream. Science has advanced enough to change that. EPFL researchers have come up with a neural implant that can make paralyzed rats walk again. This soft, stretchable solution can be implanted on the spinal chord, without damaging it.
The implant integrates chemical and electrical stimulation but remains elastic. The e-Dura features electrodes and a drug delivery system. The above video shows how the e-Dura implant works.
