Sexual assault is a big problem in our society. In a perfect world, nobody would have to experience that. Unfortunately, that is not the case. There are various tools that can help people deter sexual assault. The Whistl wants to be one of those. It is a smartphone case with an app that monitors your safety and lets you stay in touch with family members. When you squeeze its buttons, a 120db alarm gets activated. An external 90-Lumen LED is available to temporarily blind the attacker.
The companion app broadcasts a help signal to those close to you in addition to the police. The Whistl has touch sensing buttons that won’t set off in your backpack. Its buttons need to be pressed at the same time. If you do so by mistake, you can disable police and friend notification using the companion app. Whistl has 3 modes to get you out of trouble. In Check-in Mode, you can stay in touch with friends and family members. In Stealth and Panic Mode, you can contact the police to get help. The case has a battery life that lasts up to 3 years.
