Robots can already play soccer, table tennis and other sports. Baseball can be a bit of a challenge for them though. This video from RAI Institute shows a robot that can catch and throw balls. It can also work a baseball bat. These bots can throw 70mp balls. They can also bat at distances of 7 meters.
Dynamic manipulation steps up to the plate! This is a first look at a low-impedance platform designed to study how robots manipulate objects. In this demo, two robots play catch and practice batting, even teaming up with humans.

Catching balls from a short distance does require a quick reaction time, which could be a challenge for robots like this. These robots can hit balls pitched at up to 30mph.
