The UBTECH Walker S2 has gotten a lot of coverage in the media. It is the first humanoid robot we have seen that can swap its battery automatically. This 1.75m tall robot has 52 degrees of freedom and can walk at 2m/s. It also comes with industrial hands to perform a wide variety of tasks. The Walker S2 uses a LLM for voice interaction. This robot can handle 15kg of load. It can do a deep squat to pick up items of the floor. As it turns out, it can also play tennis:
As the above video shows, this robot can hit forehand and backhands. The robot uses 2 fisheye cameras and multiple RGB cameras to perceive its surroundings. Not surprisingly, the Walker S2 can’t compete with serious tennis players yet but even hitting forehands and backhands with precision is quite a feat to pull off.
