3D printing is going to change our worlds. We have already covered 3D food, metal, and plastic printers. Osteoid happens to be a medical cast that relies on 3d printing technology to improve the healing experience for patients with broken or fractured limbs. In order for the cast to fit perfectly, the area is 3D scanned and sent to a modeling software.
After locking mechanism and algorithmically generated ventilation holes are added, the design is 3D printed from ABS. The system can improve the healing process for patients and keep them comfortable. Looks like a fascinating idea by Deniz Karasahin.
