Many of us have seen drone racers perform amazing stunts in the past. Wouldn’t it be nice if drones were able to pull aggressive maneuvers autonomously? In this video from Vijay Kumar, you can see a 250g quadrotor performing these moves by relying on its onboard processor and sensors.
Planning and estimating tasks are solved based on the information gathered using a camera and an IMU. The drone is capable of moving in narrow gaps requiring “accelerations up to 1.5 g and roll and pitch angles up to 90 degrees with velocities of 5 m/s.
