Chess computers have come a long way over the years. Those of you who have been following this blog know how big a fan of Chessnut Move we are. It is an app connected chess robot that can move multiple pieces at the same time. It lets you play on Lichess and chess.com. Each piece moves independently, which makes this robot much different from others. This may sound cool but imagine having a chess computer in 1979! The Boris Master was made around that time. It has a 8-bit processor (1MHz) with 256 bytes RAM and 2.5kb ROM.

This chess computer comes with an elegant wooden box. It even has a rechargeable battery, which was something unique for chess computers of that time. Boris also has a few pre-programmed messages that it displays as you play against it. You can adjust the amount of time it uses too. The Boris Master is very rare but you can still find it on eBay from time to time.
