Nugget ice makers are very convenient appliances as they can make plenty of chewable ice for your drinks. We have already covered a few of them that get the job done in a few minutes. The Euhomy Pearl L1 Pro takes it to the next level with app control. It also has a portable design, so unlike a few other models we have tested, the Pearl L1 Pro doesn’t weigh a whole lot, nor does it take up a lot of space. We anticipated a large package, but this one was just about the right size for one person to easily move around. The machine comes ready to go right out of the box. It doesn’t have a complex control panel, so all you have to do is pour in some water, hit the main button, and wait a few minutes. Our ice maker shipped with a scoop inside. It also has a built-in scoop holder on the side. At the bottom, you can find the drain plug.
The control interface is pretty straightforward. You can start making ice by pressing the main button, but if you hold it for about 5 seconds, it will activate the cleaning process. There is also a button to turn on the internal light. This nugget ice maker gives you feedback with lights. For example, when we drained the machine and accidentally turned it on, the light turned orange. The cleaning process makes sure nothing is stuck in the unit.
Euhomy’s website suggests the wait time is about 7 minutes before the first ice nugget comes out. We tested the machine multiple times and each time we got our first nugget in just over 5.5 minutes. We used filtered water from our fridge. Unlike regular ice cubes, these ice nuggets absorb flavor and are chewable. They are great for iced teas, sodas, and a variety of drinks.
We had no problem fitting our Pearl L1 Pro in a small kitchen. Before getting started, you will just want to let the machine sit upright for a few hours. You should also make sure the hot air outlet on the side is not blocked. Based on our tests, the first couple of nuggets that came out were smaller, but once the unit got going, it started producing regular-size nuggets. For cleaning, you will want to use a tried and tested cleaning solution, but it is also possible to do it with vinegar or lemon juice with water. The top cover and drain plug are easily removable. The max line is clearly marked, so you will know not to overfill the unit.
What sets this model apart from a few others we have tested is its smart features. To start the pairing process, download the app, press the + button, and hit the on/off button 3 times to activate the pairing mode. The app lets you turn on/off the light and start the ice-making process from your phone. You can also set a working schedule for your nugget ice maker. This unit is compatible with Alexa. You can connect it to your smart speaker through the app to set up custom voice commands. For example, you can turn the machine on/off and activate the cleaning process with a simple voice command.
This machine is plug & play. In order to get the best results, you will want to avoid putting hot water or other types of drinks in it. You will also want to avoid blocking the vent. The internal light’s brightness seemed just right. The noise level was low, so our pets didn’t even notice it when the machine was running. Connecting to the app was also straightforward as long as you put the machine in pairing mode.
We were very impressed with how fast this nugget ice maker works. It gave us ice nuggets faster than other models we have tested. It is more compact, so you can use it not only at home but also in your RV. It can also produce over 30 lb of ice per day. If your ice melts before you use it, the water is recycled and turned into ice again.
