Meet FaceRig: a kick-ass program that lets you take over a virtual character and show your expressions and emotions with just a webcam. You can stream the output to Skype or any other service that uses a webcam (maybe even Hangouts). FaceRig uses real time image-based tracking technology by Visage Technologies and animation & visualization framework by Holotech Studios to get the job done.

FaceRig offers real-time expression tracking and on-the-fly animation. It takes care of the encoding job as well. FaceRig will be available in 5 versions (including an iOS version). Support for Android could come in the future. This technology totally rocks. What more can be said?

  1. Will be available in 5 versions (including an ios version)
But nothing for Android, and probably nothing for Linux either.
    Why bother?

    • They said they are going to think about Android if they get enough funding. The more funds they get, the more work they can put it. That’s how these crowdfunding projects work. 🙂

  2. There will be an adroid version,
FageRig Mobile for iOS and potentially Android – basically a mobile version of FaceRig Classic- though the avatars and background specs for the mobile version will be different than the ones for the desktop.
they achieved half of they’re founds in the first 4 5 days of the campain, at this rate for sure we will have an android linux mac windows and windows mobile version

    • Yes. It all comes down to funding. If they get the money, I am assuming they will make this available for as many platforms there is demand for it. I am personally more excited about the desktop version.
