Robots are going to be a big part of our lives. They are already used by many companies to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Those robots that will be used around humans will need be as safe as possible. An electronic skin can make that happen. Take Gene. 01 for instance: it is a humanoid robot with a network of sensors all over its body. This smart skin tracks temperature, humidity and touch. Generative Bionics’ approach enables this robot to feel people approaching and adjusts its moves before any contact happens.
This robot can anticipate the presence of people around it to react, making it much safer than regular humanoids. Gene.01 has 24 degrees of freedom wrists hand and surround vision. The above video shows this robot in action.
