Playing virtual reality games can be lots of fun, but you are going to get an even more realistic experience when you can feel virtual objects. Impacto is a wearable system that simulates physical impact in virtual reality. The wearer gets to feel virtual punches through the bracelet.
As the above video shows, the tactile component is rendered using a solenoid while electrical muscle stimulation is used for the impulse component. Whether it’s boxing, playing soccer, or trying other sports, a system like this can enhance your VR experience. Impacto is a project by Pedro Lopes, Alexandra Ion and Patrick Baudisch at the Hasso Plattner Institute.
