It was only a couple of months ago that we had the chance to test the first-generation Inoviva Slushie Maker: it is a no-ice slushie machine with wine, slushie, frappe, cocktail, and milkshake programs. The Inoviva S2.0 Slushie Machine picks up where the previous generation left off. It has 88 oz capacity, so you can make frozen treats for up to 9 people. We were recently sent one of these to test. Let’s see what was included:
The package for this new model looked very similar to the old one. The item was well-packed with enough protection on all sides, so it was not damaged in any way during the shipping process. It comes with everything installed, except a drip tray and handle that can be attached in a few seconds. Our package also included a manual with recipes, a quick guide, and cleaning brushes.
This model looks similar to the S1.0 slushie maker, but it has a much bigger container. It has a top sliding door, which is even more convenient than the previous model. We found the smart display to be a bit brighter too. You still get the same 5 programs plus a cleaning function. There is also a child lock that activates after one minute to make sure your settings are not changed accidentally.
The machine weighed 21.6 lbs according to our scale. It is not heavy but a bit large, so you will want to handle it with care. The handle drops into the front slot, allowing you to dispense your drink with a simple pull. In order to make slushies, you are going to need a drink that has more than 5% sugar. If you are planning to use alcoholic beverages, they must be under 16% alcohol content. We made a bunch of drinks in this, including an orange slushie and a ChatGPT-recommended frappe.
Before using the machine, you will want to remove the container and blade and wash them. You can also run the clean program with water once just to make sure everything is clean. Once you pour your drinks, select a program, and adjust slushy thickness, the machine goes to work. Depending on the program you choose and the amount of ingredients you add, the wait time can be up to 45 minutes. For a basic orange juice slushie, the machine got the job done in just over 20 minutes. We made orange juice slushies in both machines. They finished a couple of minutes apart, which was negligible. Our FLIR thermal camera indicated that the S2.0 ran a bit cooler.
The guide covers all the error messages you may see. For example, if you open and remove the container when the unit is on, you will see an “OP” error on the machine. The E3 error lets you know when you are running low on sugar. If you hear a rubbing sound, you should consider adding sugar even if you don’t see an error message.
The cleaning process is quite straightforward. Just add water to the container and run the program for a few minutes. You can remove the blade, container, and condensation catch, which can be cleaned with warm soapy water. The evaporator, the metal part in the middle, should be cleaned with a cloth. We also liked the fact that the unit has a long cord.
Slushies are great any time of the year, specially during summer. With the Inoviva Slushie Maker, you can prepare them without a whole lot of hassle. You can also make milkshakes, mimosas, and frappes. Since this machine doesn’t require ice, you don’t have to worry about your drink becoming diluted. The first model works just fine but if you need a machine for a larger family, the S2.0’s 88 oz capacity makes a difference.
