Here is a robot arm that can be controlled using a Kinect. As the guys at OpenMYR explain in this video, they have spent 6 months on motors that can be dropped into projects and controlled over a wireless network. This 3D printed robot arm has motors powered by ESP8266-based WiFi controller boards.

The robot relies on a Kinect to mimic human hand movements. A Node.js script is used to send Kinect data to the motors. OpenMYR has shared more info on YouTube.
