This is the Mars Desktop Kinetic Sculpture: a rare desktop toy I found on eBay a while ago. It took me a bit of time to even find its name. It has rotating pieces with 2 spheres attached to them. You will simply have to connect these parts and install them on the base, which has a simple motor that rotates back and forth to get these spheres moving.

The two pieces are not fixed, so when the bottom one rotates in one direction, the other one doesn’t always follow, which leads to fun random movements being generated by this. The motor is powered with a simple battery.
