Robotic insects are nothing new but not all of them can survive getting hit on the head. Researchers at EPFL’s School of Engineering have developed a soft robotic insect that uses artificial muscles to move 3cm per second. It can also recover after getting hit by a fly swatter.

This soft robot is called DEAnsect. It is developed in a tethered and untethered versions. The untethered version is fully wireless and autonomous. It weighs 1g and carries battery and electronic components on its back.
