Robots such as YuMi are going to collaborate with humans to get work done in a more efficient fashion in the future. YuMi’s arms have 7 degrees of freedom, so it is a 14-axis robot that can handle complex tasks. This video shows how the YuMi robot can be used to solve a Rubik’s Cube.
A Cognex Insight camera is used to detect the position and orientation of the Rubik’s Cube in front of the robot. YuMi picks up the cube, analyzes positions of each colored square, and executes proper moves to solve the puzzle. I don’t know about you, but I would love to have one of these robots in my office.
