Robots are already being used by surgeons to perform surgeries. They are going to become even more sophisticated in the future. The DLR MiroSurge is a robotic system with 3 MIRO robots responsible for completing tasks. Two MIRO robot arms carry surgical instruments with force/torque sensors to capture reaction forces with manipulated tissue. The third robot arm streams video to the surgeon’s console.

MiroSurge is ideal for minimally invasive surgery. While these robots hold the instruments, they are controlled by the surgeon sitting through a master console.
