There are plenty of fancy autonomous drones on the market. Not everyone has access to one though. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could use consumer-grade electronics to program autonomous drones? The below video shows an autonomous drone that uses a smartphone as its brain. The phone looks at the environment and takes pictures to figure out where it is in the environment.
All the computation and sensing is done on the phone, including higher-level autonomy, planning, control, and computer vision algorithms. GRASP Laboratory is behind this innovative project. You can find out more here.
