There is no better way to learn about robots and coding than playing around with one. The Gesture HW1 happens to be a 10 degrees of freedom robotic hand with 1mm repeatability. It can handle up to 3kg of static load. It is about the size of a human hand and can fit a 7 inch glove. What’s neat is you can remove the screws to repair each part. The HW1 has a plug & play design. It is ready for C++ and Python programming.

This robotic hand has a desktop application for Windows 10 and later for customization. You get 4 ways to control it. For example, you can import a .CSV file with info for each DOF. It is also possible to use a video game controller or drag & drop actions like video editing. Position and current can be controlled for each DOF. According to HW1’s makers, all models will be made available to backers, so they can further customize their own robots. You can find this project on Kickstarter.
